SCULPTRA

As we age, we may notice a loss of volume, fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin. Sculptra is a non-surgical, injectable biostimulator that restores lost volume, smooths out fine lines and wrinkles, and rejuvenates the skin for a youthful, glowing appearance.

WHAT IS SCULPTRA?

After age 20-30, the production of collagen in our bodies slows down and we start losing collagen at a rate of 1-2% per year. This collagen depletion can cause the skin to sag, lose elasticity, and form hollow areas on the face. Collagen is necessary to give the skin structure and support the functions of elastin and hyaluronic acid.

Sculptra is a biostimulatory product that uses poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) to enhance collagen synthesis in the skin. Unlike dermal fillers that provide instant results, Sculptra works gradually to rejuvenate the skin and prompts the body to produce more collagen naturally, giving you a more youthful appearance.

HOW DOES SCULPTRA WORK?

Sculptra is a biodegradable and biocompatible biostimulator that helps in rebuilding lost collagen through a series of treatments. Your results are actually from your own collagen, and for this reason, Sculptra is well-known for providing natural-looking results that make you appear more youthful without looking like you’ve had any “work done.” The results are gradual and improve over time.

HOW CAN SCULPTRA HELP ME?

Sculptra can be an integral part of your restorative journey at Liquid Beauty. Sculptra treatment requires several sessions, and the results are natural and gradual. It is an excellent complement to your neurotoxin and dermal filler injectables, and it also works well as a stand-alone treatment for patients who want to see gradual improvements. The most popular uses for Sculptra are:

  • Restoring lost facial volume
  • Softening wrinkles and folds
  • Buttock augmentation
  • Improve skin quality

HOW IS SCULPTRA PERFORMED?

Sculptra injections are delivered using a blunt tipped cannula or needle. Anesthetic numbing cream is usually not required, but you may request it for additional comfort measures. When you meet with your Liquid Beauty provider, he/she will assess your needs carefully before developing an aesthetic enhancement plan for you.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SCULPTRA AND BOTOX?

Neuromodulators like Botox work by relaxing the muscles and preventing them from contracting during facial expressions. As the muscles contract, wrinkles and folds are formed. By preventing muscle contraction, these neuromodulators soften existing wrinkles and prevent new ones from forming. On the other hand, Sculptra works differently. It gradually stimulates collagen production and is strategically placed to enhance, lift, and volumize. Unlike neuromodulators that act on muscle movement, Sculptra works on collagen production to give a more youthful look.

WHAT IS THE COST OF SCULPTRA?

Sculptra costs $700 per vial, but treatment costs vary based on individual needs. A Liquid Beauty provider will evaluate your skin concerns and goals to create a personalized treatment plan.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY SCULPTRA APPOINTMENT?

Avoid taking aspirin, ibuprofen, or fish oil for 2 weeks before treatment, but do not discontinue any medications without your prescribing physician’s approval. Consider taking arnica pills orally a week before and a week after your treatment to help minimize bruising.

Please arrive with a clean face without makeup to minimize infection. Plan to avoid social events for 2 weeks just in case of swelling or bruising.

WHAT ARE THE POST-CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR SCULPTRA?

Follow the 5-5-5 rule. This means massaging the treated areas for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days. This is to ensure even distribution of Sculptra throughout the treated area. It’s important to avoid exercising, going in a sauna or jacuzzi, or doing anything that will increase circulation for 24 hours after the treatment. When washing your face, use gentle soap and water. It’s also recommended not to apply makeup for at least 8 hours after the procedure.

WHAT IS THE AVERAGE LONGEVITY OF SCULPTRA?

Sculptra is an FDA-approved treatment that can provide gradual and long-lasting results for up to two years. Most patients will receive 3-6 sessions of Sculptra to achieve optimal results. Thereafter, Sculptra sessions can be performed once a year or every two years to maintain results.
